Adriana Trujillo // Instructor
Filmmaker, Media Programmer and Curator
Specializing in documentary films and social impact projects, Adriana Trujillo has dedicated her career to the production and research of media, focusing on hybrid forms of contemporary cinema, experimental video, and found footage. She holds a Master’s Degree in Creative Documentary from the Autonomous University of Barcelona.
Adriana has been selected for prestigious programs such as Berlinale Docs Station (Germany), Emerging Producer Ji.hlava (Czech Republic), and the Ibermedia Scriptwriters Program (Perú). Her work has been showcased at international film festivals and galleries, including the Vincent Price Museum in Los Angeles, Sydney HMFF, Foundation for Art and Creative Technology (FACT), and Home Movies in Liverpool, the Medellín Arts Biennale MDE11, the Iowa Film Festival, Pop-Up Space Finland, and at the Morelia, Guadalajara, and DOCSMX festivals, among others.
She is the co-founder and artistic director of BorDocs Documentary Forum. Her projects have received support from IMCINE, FONCA, and the National System of Art Creators (SNCA). In addition to her filmmaking career, Adriana has served as a juror for various awards and funding initiatives, including IMCINE-FOPROCINE, Plataforma DOCSMX, PECDA, Jóvenes Creadores, Los Angeles Film Festival, DocuLab Guadalajara, and the Transborder Film Fellowship among others.
She is the editor of the book Documentary Film in the North of Mexico (2013) and was the director and programmer at Cine Tonalá Tijuana (2016-2020). Currently, she programs the bi-national selection Frontera Filmmakers for the San Diego Latino Film Festival and serves as the artistic director of Cinema Parallels in Republika Srpska.

Structuring Your film: We will delve into building the narrative structure of your documentary, recognizing that each film is unique. Together, we’ll explore personalized strategies that fit your project.
Writing a Treatment: A treatment outlines your film’s vision, including the mood, tone, and style. We’ll work with your idea and story to shape it.
Director’s Statement: You’ll learn how to express why this element is key and how your unique perspective shapes the film.
Ensuring Your Proposal Aligns with Your Budget: We’ll focus on ensuring that your creative vision and project plan align with practical financial considerations.
